8 Strategies to Combat the Heat

America is definitely addicted to air conditioning.  Air conditioners are pretty much standard appliances since the 1940’s, once ac window units initially to enter the market.  Could you imagine summertime without the cool effects of ac?  Many times, when the temperatures becomes really warm, we remain in the house with the soothing sounds associated with a condenser fan in the background and simply let summer slip away.  But there are several simple ways to defeat the heat that holds you back from going outdoor.  Enjoy the summer months again using these simple ideas to maintain your cool on those warm summer days.

A Nice Fan.  To help maintain ventilation, an indoor ceiling fan or portable fan is perfect for maintaining a breeze.  With a couple of nice wood rocking chairs, some cool lemonade and a decent fan, you’ve got a great combo for relaxing in your outdoor patio room.  The freestanding fans can create a lovely breeze in hot weather.

Cool Water Misters.  A light spray of cold water can genuinely help to keeping you cool and relaxed.  Consider all those moments when you where standing near to a water fountain or waterfall and felt the awesome water mist lightly showering on you.  Using a good water misting device, you could recreate that feeling without producing large puddles around you.  The quick evaporation of the tiny water droplets is perfect for cooling you down while not getting you all wet.  A smaller garden, a patio, or a big backyard could seem like a completely different place with the water misting system around.  And in case you’re entertaining, it’s awesome for your family and friends. Remember to turn off you outdoor heaters!  You’d be surprised the amount of folks maintain their outdoor heating on during the summer months.

Great Shading.  Having the right type of shade, temperature can drop pretty considerably.  If perhaps you planned ahead of time, large leafy trees or plants can naturally create the shade you will need, yet the ideal time to put down a shade tree was something like 20 years before.  Now we need to create shade with a variety of structures including pergolas, vine trellises, garden shelters or different canopies.  The least difficult shade maker can be a 11′ market umbrella, which could cover up dining tables or sizeable areas.  Awnings tend to be excellent for covering windows, and help to reduce the glowing heat produced by the reflecting and magnifying of the sun light.  And watch for ultra-violet uv rays!  Ultra-violet light is a contributing factor for cancer of the skin, and can easily weaken fabrics on outdoor cushions or heat up stainless steel outdoor furniture, messing up your outdoor activities.

Swimming pools.  There are several kinds of pools that supply awesome relief from a warm afternoon.  A sunken pool is one of the most pricey options and is likely to make your home a favorite destination, particularly if you have got teenagers.  Elevated pools tend to be a less expensive alternative and still provide a lot of possibilities for patio fun.  For those on a budget, even an inflatable kiddie pool is inviting on a warm day.  Put the blow up under a shady space and fill it using cold water.  You may well have to compete with your kids and pets for this little pool for a quick cool-down.

The Right Colors.  Darker colors soak up heat and soft colors reflect it, so decorate your garden and patio  in whites and pastels for the most heat reflection.  Light colored roofs reduce cooling costs in hot climates, so remember this whenever replacing or repainting your roofing.

Keep Ventilated. Maintaining the air flow moving helps to keep things breezy. Look for ways to help keep your porches, patios and decks ventilated.  In case your setting up a canopy or patio umbrella, be sure not to position it close to a fence or walls that are close by.  Try to make space around furnishings to permit air to circulate.  Watch what you wear!  Manufactured fabrics like polyester basically retain heat and doesn’t allow air to ventilate thoughout of the fabric.  Make sure to pick out fabrics that can breathe, like linen, and fit loosely to allow for cool air flow.

Stay hydrated.  Having a good deal of water while enjoying the outdoors is genuinely important.  Your body needs to sweat to cool off, and it needs water to accomplish that.  Also, plenty of cool water can help to decrease inner temperatures.  Make an effort to avoid from caffeinated drinks, like soda, coffee or tea.  Caffeine will act as a diuretic, which drains water out of the system, and may bring about dehydration on especially very hot days.  If you’re heating up, a swift cool shower will enable you to quickly cool down and keep externally hydrated.

Leisure.  Exercise generates heat, so a highly effective technique to beating the summer doldrums is to stop and unwind.  Even if sleeping in a hammock, reading in a comfortable reclining chair, or watching the world go from your porch, you’ll cool down while you kick back.
